Blog Post 3
Peer editing is a constructive tool students can use to help one another correct any written material. The best way to approach peer editing is to be positive and honest using compliments, suggestions and corrections. I will approach peer editing as a serious but fair and helpful voice when reviewing my peers material. I want the student to whom I am editing to have a positive experience with my feedback.
Peer editing is important for students because it givens another opinion of their work. Students can have mistakes brought to their attention in a positive way and the mistakes can be corrected having a productive experience. Peer editing helps both the student who performed the work and the student who is editing the work. Peer editing is a great tool for students of all ages.

Blog Post #2
The central message of the movie Mr. Dancealot was that not all subjects can be in a lecture only format. The author makes his case by showing that the students are to demonstrate physically what they were told verbally in class. The students were given no chance to practice during class. Hands on practice is vital in many subjects such as dancing. I agree that teachers need to instruct students, but they also need to give students a chance to practice while being supervised by an instructor before being tested on the material.

Teaching in the 21st Century video by Kevin Roberts shows us how technology will be used by students in a vast variety of ways using all the different electrical devices available to them. Students do need a teacher in this ever changing world to help them build a network for their subject. Teachers also encourage and help students to take advantage of learning opportunities with the use of technology.
The movie The Networked Student by Wendy Drexler is a video of how students develop their virtual textbook. The students will need a teacher to help them build their networks. Teachers will also be needed for guidance should the student get stuck, and also teachers will to show how to communicate properly on the web. I feel teachers are needed for two goals to teach students the subject matter and how also to find the subject using the web.
The video Harness Your Students Digital Smarts by Vicki Davis enlightens us on how teachers can introduce technology to students and show them how to connect with the rest of the world. I was very excited to see how the students worked together as team to help empower one another. The flat classroom project was another aspects of her classroom that I found very innovative.
Children have a natural technical understanding in Dr.John H. Strange's movie Who's Ahead in the Learning Race? The young students are given a device and within a matter of days they are accomplishing things that Dr. Strange's college students have not yet mastered. I feel the younger minds are way ahead of anyone who was not born into this new digital era.
In the movie Flipping the Classroom, I saw a new concept that I have never seen before of teachers sending instructional information on a subject through video for homework. The students were to watch and have questions for their teacher the following day. I thinks this approach would be a very useful tool for me as a teacher for a certain type of student, possibly for the ones who are self motivated.
In the article Bringing the Locker Room into the Classroom by Craig N Owens, I saw an new approach to teaching. The concept of problem-based learning can be applied to a classroom on many different levels, in class and in small groups. I also was very intrigued by the teach the players the system concept. I feel that if students, like players , have a full understanding as to what is expected of them and where they need to perform, they will perform better in the classroom just like those in the athletic situations. This was my favorite of the seven assignments because it made me think about how to teach as well as what to teach.

Blog Post 1 What About EDM310?
The things I have heard about EDM310 are mixed. I have heard that the class is very different from other education classes. I also have heard that you will learn a lot of different ways to do educational projects that I may someday use in my own classroom.
The fear I have about EDM310 is not understanding what the final results of my project should be. I am afraid that I may think much simpler than my fellow students.
EDM310 is a class that is totally different than my other classes that lecture in history and economics. My other classes involve memorization in which I am tested on my memory skills. I do feel EDM310 will have a more hands on way of teaching.
The most difficult thing in EDM310 for me will be my uneasy feeling that no matter what I do, it is never enough. I feel there is always one more aspect that I can do to make my projects better.
The best way to address the most difficult things will be to ask questions and keep in contact with my instructor.
My own questions that I have about EDM310 would be about the ways to do better in this class. I want to ask questions and make sure I am coming across clear. I do believe that the possibilities of learning in this class is limitless.

I am Tanya Guillory.
I have lived in Mobile since 1997. I am a returning student who already
has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication.
I want to be an educator for a few reasons. I love children and I love teaching. Showing children how to learn and grow has
always been a goal of mine. I also love
History. History, if taught creatively,
can give children a strong sense of placement in who they are in this
world.
I want to use in my practice as an educator a sense of
teaching that is outside the box. I want
to show my students using all educational tools available, that history
happened to real people and events had real impact on everyone throughout time.
My passions are my family, my church, history
and my new passion is yoga. All of these
passions bring joy to my life.
